Worcester to Host 2024 Arbor Day Celebration

WORCESTER, Mass. – The City of Worcester Department of Public Works & Parks has scheduled an Arbor Day celebration for Friday, April 26, 2024, at Mulcahy Field.

The City of Worcester will celebrate its 38th consecutive Tree City USA designation. The municipality has also been awarded a Tree City USA Growth Award for the 25th consecutive year.

The event will include the planting of two Black Gum (Nyssa Sylavatica) trees. In addition, more than 300 additional trees are scheduled to be planted this spring in partnership with the Department of Sustainability and Resilience throughout the city with a priority in Environmental Justice Neighborhoods.

The event is coordinated in partnership with the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation’s Urban and Community Forestry Program, the United States Department of Agriculture, the City of Worcester Urban Forestry Tree Commission, the Green Worcester Advisory Commission, and National Grid.
